Tyler Boyd Says He’s “Absolutely Willing” to Join Steelers — If They Call

Veteran wide receiver Tyler Boyd may have spent most of his NFL career as a Cincinnati Bengal, but if the Pittsburgh Steelers come knocking, he’s ready to answer.

In a recent interview, Boyd made it clear that despite years of rivalry, he has no hesitation about joining the team from his hometown — and former AFC North nemesis. “If they ask,” he said, “I’m absolutely willing.”

A Pittsburgh Native Comes Full Circle?

Bengals' Tyler Boyd says Cincinnati would have beaten Chiefs in AFC championship game if he was healthy | Fox News

Boyd, born and raised in Clairton, PA — just outside of Pittsburgh — was a standout at the University of Pittsburgh before being drafted by the Bengals in 2016. Over eight seasons, he racked up more than 6,000 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns, earning a reputation as a reliable slot weapon.

With the Steelers recently trading away George Pickens and building around new QB Aaron Rodgers, Boyd could be a logical addition — bringing veteran experience, playoff reps, and locker room maturity.

“It would mean a lot,” Boyd added. “My family’s here. My roots are here. And I know what the black and gold means.”

A Perfect Fit?

Boyd's skill set as a savvy route-runner and dependable third-down option may be exactly what Pittsburgh needs to complement their current WR corps. He’s played in multiple postseason games and has a knack for finding soft spots in zone defenses — ideal for a system led by a timing-based quarterback like Rodgers.

Fantasy analysts and insiders are already speculating on the move, especially after his public comments.

“This is one of the most underrated WR free agents still on the board,” one AFC scout said. “The Steelers would be crazy not to make that call.”

While no deal is imminent, Boyd’s willingness — and likely team-friendly price tag — could make him one of the best NFL offseason values left on the market.

His addition could also be a low-risk option with a potentially high reward, especially if the Steelers are looking to bolster depth for a deep playoff run.
