T.J. Watt Wants to Return Home to Wisconsin by Joining Packers a
The Pittsburgh Steelers may opt to secure T.J. Watt with a record-breaking contract extension. However, if they don’t, a trade could become a possibility. Should that scenario unfold, one iconic NFL franchise might end up with the pass-rushing superstar.
The Green Bay Packers are currently the favorites to acquire Watt, according to betting odds from Bovada. While it’s unclear exactly what Green Bay would need to surrender to land Watt, it would undoubtedly involve multiple high-value assets.
For the Packers, acquiring Watt would also mean committing to the lucrative contract extension that Pittsburgh hesitated to offer. Despite the cost, Watt’s value makes it worthwhile.
The 30-year-old Wisconsin native would be returning home. With 108.0 career sacks in 121 NFL games, all with the Steelers, Watt has also forced 33 fumbles and intercepted seven passes. He remains one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive forces.
Seeing him return to the state where he grew up and played college football would be remarkable. The Packers would become significantly stronger with his addition.
While it’s not a likely move for the Steelers, if they choose to proceed with a trade, don’t rule out Green Bay as a serious contender.
