Green Bay, WI – August 25, 2025
The Green Bay Packers have signed former Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers running back Tyrion Davis-Price, as reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The move follows a successful workout session on August 11, 2025, where the 24-year-old impressed alongside other running backs, Micah Bernard and Kylin James, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC-2.
Davis-Price, a former third-round pick by the 49ers in the 2022 NFL Draft, struggled to find his footing in San Francisco. Over two seasons, he appeared in just seven games, accumulating 120 yards on 40 carries. In February 2024, he signed a futures contract with the Super Bowl champion Eagles but spent most of the season on their practice squad, playing in one game and gaining seven yards on three carries. The Eagles waived him in May 2025. Most recently, Davis-Price joined the Tennessee Titans on June 2, 2025, but was released on July 17.
Despite a challenging career start, Davis-Price now has a fresh opportunity with the Packers. Green Bay’s running back room is stacked with Josh Jacobs, Emanuel Wilson, MarShawn Lloyd, and Chris Brooks, making a roster spot competitive. However, Davis-Price’s size (6-foot-1) and potential could earn him a place on the practice squad. If he delivers strong performances in the coming weeks, he may secure a spot on the Packers’ taxi squad, offering depth and upside.
The Packers’ decision to sign Davis-Price reflects their strategy of taking low-risk chances on high-potential players. His college success at LSU, where he showcased power and versatility, suggests untapped talent that Green Bay’s coaching staff, led by Matt LaFleur, could unlock. For a team with a history of developing overlooked talent, this signing aligns with their approach to building depth.
For Packers fans, the addition of Davis-Price sparks intrigue as the team prepares for the 2025 season. While he faces an uphill battle to crack the active roster, his performance in practices and preseason games could prove pivotal. Will the former 49ers and Eagles running back revive his career in Titletown? Packers Nation is eager to see if Davis-Price can seize this chance and become a valuable asset in Green Bay’s backfield.
