NFL Legend Shannon Sharpe Speaks Out in Support of Micah Parsons and Criticizes Jerry Jones
The controversy surrounding Micah Parsons' contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys continues to intensify, and now one of the biggest voices in football has joined the conversation. Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe has publicly spoken out — not only to defend Micah Parsons, but also to strongly criticize Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for his handling of the situation.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Sharpe did not hold back:
“Micah Parsons is the cornerstone of the Cowboys’ defense — losing him right now would be a massive setback. It’s terrible when you put money above winning for the whole team.”
Sharpe made it clear that delaying or mishandling a contract extension for Parsons — widely considered one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL — is not just short-sighted, but potentially damaging to the entire organization.
“I played with guys like Ray Lewis — I know how vital a defensive leader can be. If the Cowboys lose Micah over a few million, that’s unforgivable.”
Micah Parsons currently leads the league in total QB pressures over the past three seasons, has made consecutive All-Pro teams, and was recently named a Top 10 player in the NFL by NFL Network. Despite this, he remains without a contract extension, and multiple reports suggest negotiations have stalled due to resistance from Jerry Jones.
Sharpe also warned of a deeper consequence — the message this sends to the rest of the locker room:
“If I were a young player in that building, I’d be thinking: ‘If this is how they treat Micah, what are they going to do to me?’”
With such a respected legend voicing concern, the pressure on Jerry Jones and the Cowboys' front office is only growing. If they don’t resolve this situation soon, they risk not only losing Micah Parsons, but also fracturing the team’s internal trust and culture.
