Jaire Alexander Agrees to Pay Cut to Stay with Green Bay Packers

According to NFL Network and posts on X, Green Bay Packers’ star cornerback Jaire Alexander has agreed to a significant pay cut to remain with the team for the 2025 season. The move is seen as a strategic decision, allowing the Packers to maintain their formidable defense while freeing up cap space to strengthen the roster.
Alexander, 28, is one of the NFL’s premier cornerbacks, boasting two Pro Bowl selections (2020, 2022) and a First-Team All-Pro nod (2020). However, his four-year, $84 million contract signed in 2022 has strained the Packers’ salary cap, especially as the team looks to secure young stars like Jordan Love and build a Super Bowl-contending roster. In 2024, Alexander recorded 5 interceptions, 12 passes defended, and 52 tackles, helping the Packers boast one of the NFL’s top pass defenses. His ability to lock down elite wide receivers like Justin Jefferson and A.J.
