Howie Roseman Refuses to Sign All-Pro CB, Eagles Fans Fire Back

Well, that didn't take long for the Philadelphia Eagles to find themselves out of the running for one of the top free agents in the NFL.

The Baltimore Ravens posted on social media that former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander had signed with the team. It's being reported that the contract is for one year and is worth $6 million.

Alexander spent the last seven years in Green Bay, as he was selected for two Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams. He's made 70 pass deflections and 12 interceptions in that span.

How much of a loss is it for the Eagles?

Reaction to the news of Alexander heading to Baltimore has been mixed within the Eagles' fan base. There are those that are upset that they didn't land the former All-Pro.

CBS Sports Eagles reporter Jeff Kerr did make a post shortly afterwards that stated that the Eagles weren't really in the conversation for Alexander anyways. This is despite many media publications connecting Alexander and the Eagles together as a good match.

The reality is that many in the media are pushing for the Eagles to bring in another cornerback, as there isn't much trust in the corners outside of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Philadelphia currently has Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson battling for the third cornerback spot on the roster.

If Philadelphia were going to make a free agent move, it would either be at edge rusher or safety, as they are more important positions of need. Although Alexander isn't particularly young at 28, the Eagles are looking for younger players to develop within the team.

Many think the next move for Philadelphia is to call the Miami Dolphins about a cornerback Jalen Ramsey. This is less likely to happen as Roseman would be unlikely to offload picks unless Ramsey could commit long term with the organization.

The Eagles are very high on Mitchell and Cooper to the point that it doesn't make sense to make another move. Ringo is over six feet tall, and the Eagles are hoping he will pull together and be the lengthy outside corner they want.

In an offseason that has been relatively quiet for Philadelphia, don't expect Roseman to have an itchy trigger finger to call every team or free agent to make a move.
