Less than a year after being traded by the Philadelphia Eagles, former All-Pro edge rusher Haason Reddick has opened up about his tumultuous time in Philly - describing it not as a dream come true, but as a suffocating experience that left him emotionally drained.
Now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Reddick seems to have found new life, and he’s not holding back when reflecting on his Eagles tenure.
“I’m not trying to point fingers,” Reddick said in a recent interview with a Tampa outlet. “But I felt trapped there. Every day felt like I had to smile through clenched teeth. On the outside, it looked like glory. Inside, I was drowning.”
Reddick was a hometown hero in Philadelphia, posting 16 sacks in 2022 and helping lead the team to the Super Bowl. Yet after just two seasons, he was traded—allegedly due to contract disagreements and a lack of long-term commitment from the front office.
“People think I left because of money. It was never about that. I wanted to feel valued. I wanted a voice. In New York, that never happened. But here in Tampa, I can breathe. I can just be me.”
The comments have stunned Eagles fans, many of whom viewed Reddick as a symbol of Philly pride—a local star who returned to bring glory to the city. Now, those same fans are left feeling betrayed and confused.
Meanwhile, Bucs fans are embracing a reborn Reddick—one who seems more motivated than ever.
