Cowboys Demand Donovan Ezeiruaku Sign Contract Before It’s Too Late

Frisco, TX – June 7, 2025 – The Dallas Cowboys have issued a stark ultimatum to their 2025 second-round draft pick, Donovan Ezeiruaku, as tensions escalate over his unsigned rookie contract. With mandatory training camp looming on July 22, the team is pressing the Boston College edge rusher to accept their latest offer or face the possibility of being traded. Ezeiruaku’s demand for a fully guaranteed contract has sparked a standoff, leaving America’s Team at a crossroads as they balance roster stability with financial prudence.

Selected 44th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ezeiruaku was hailed as a cornerstone for Dallas’ defensive front, complementing All-Pro Micah Parsons. His college resume at Boston College—120 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks over three seasons, per ESPN—earned him a reputation as a relentless pass rusher. Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranked him 16th on their 2025 draft board, noting he was the only FBS edge defender to post a run-defense grade above 80.0 for three consecutive seasons. His 4.78-second 40-yard dash and 35-inch vertical jump at the NFL Combine further cemented his value, with a 2024 PFF pass-rush grade of 84.2.

Ezeiruaku’s camp, led by agent David Mulugheta, is pushing for a fully guaranteed four-year deal, a rarity for second-round picks. According to OverTheCap, only 15% of second-round contracts in the 2024 draft were fully guaranteed, with most featuring guarantees for the first two years and partial assurances thereafter. A typical deal for Ezeiruaku’s slot is projected at $9.2 million over four years, including a $3.5 million signing bonus, per Spotrac. Mulugheta, who also represents Parsons and CeeDee Lamb, argues Ezeiruaku’s elite production and durability—playing 92% of defensive snaps in 2024—justify the demand. “Donovan’s a game-changer,” Mulugheta told NFL Network. “He deserves security reflective of his impact.”

The Cowboys, however, have countered with a standard rookie contract: fully guaranteed for years one and two, with 50% guaranteed in year three and no guarantees in year four. This structure aligns with their 2025 draft class, where first-rounder Tyler Booker and third-rounder Shavon Revel Jr. signed similar deals, per Yahoo Sports.
