A new all-time NFL quarterback ranking has sparked heated debate — especially in Pittsburgh. According to a recent list published by “The 33rd Team,” Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was ranked higher than Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger — and fans are not taking it lightly.
Roethlisberger, a two-time Super Bowl champion and the franchise’s all-time passing leader, came in at No. 28, while Allen, who has yet to play in a Super Bowl, was ranked at No. 26.
Why the Outrage?
To many in the Steelers community, this feels like revisionist history. Roethlisberger played 18 seasons in Pittsburgh, winning two Super Bowls and appearing in a third. He threw for over 64,000 yards, had six Pro Bowl selections, and never had a losing season under head coach Mike Tomlin.
Meanwhile, Allen, while undeniably talented and still active, has yet to reach a Super Bowl and has often struggled in big postseason moments.
“How does a QB with zero rings outrank a guy with two?” one fan asked on X (formerly Twitter). “Recency bias is out of control.”

Josh Allen was praised for his dual-threat ability, arm strength, and explosive highlights — but even the list’s own criteria noted that longevity and postseason success were key factors.
That makes Roethlisberger’s placement all the more confusing.
“Allen’s ceiling is sky-high, but Big Ben’s résumé is already written in gold,” said one analyst. “Leaving him out of the top 25 is flat-out disrespect.”
